Peter Herrera ~ Guide Services

A typical itinerary would start from Belize City, heading north one hour to Crooked Tree Bird Sanctuary where we look at wading and pine savannah birds like Jabiru stork, Jacuna, Gray-necked wood rail, Neotropical Cormorant, Snail Kite, Black-collared Hawk, Savannah Vulture, and Purple Gallinule.

Then we travel south and west to the foothills of the Maya mountains to see forest birds like Pale-billed woodpecker, Montezuma Oropendola, Barred Ant-shrike, Mealy Parrot, White-necked Jacobin and Red-legged and Green Honey-creeper.

Finally we explore the coastal community for shorebirds like Caspian and Royal Tern, Willet, Mangrove Warbler, Cinnamon Hummingbird and magnificent Frigate bird, or do some snorkeling on the world’s second largest coral reef.

Trips can be customized to your interest, timeframe and level of activity. River boat trips are a great way to comfortably see wetland birds like Jacanas, Boatbilled herons, Green kingfishers, and Sun Grebes. We also walk rural roads, trails and boardwalks.
